Information on state driving laws is just a click away
A complex patchwork of state motor vehicle laws covers the country, but now drivers can navigate the twists and turns of these varied codes at DrivingLaws.AAA.com.
Drivers have looked to the printed version of AAA’s “Digest of Motor Laws” for eight decades for information on traffic laws, vehicle registration and driver’s licensing across all 50 states. And now this valuable resource is available free to the public online.
This new Web site presents the more than 700-page book as an easy-to-use online resource. Topics featured include state graduated driver’s licensing systems, child safety seat and seat belt laws, licensing for senior drivers, distracted driving laws, titling and registration, safety and emissions inspections, motorcycles and mopeds, auto insurance requirements, passenger car towing, and Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) fees and taxes. While the former print version of the book was published annually, the new format will be updated throughout the year as states make changes to their laws and regulations.
“Many Web sites simply link back to state DMV sites or focus separately on traffic safety laws, vehicle regulations or driver’s licensing,” said AAA Vice President of Public Affairs Kathleen Marvaso. “But DrivingLaws.AAA.com is a single, user-friendly clearinghouse for information from across the full spectrum of rules that impact motorists.”
AAA unveils new offices
in Arkansas and Mississippi
To provide services to members in the growing areas of northwestern Arkansas and northwestern Mississippi, AAA has opened two new branch offices.
The new offices in Bentonville, Ark., and Southaven, Miss., are bringing AAA services and benefits to some of the fastest-growing areas of the South. At the full-service offices, members can gather maps, TripTiks® and TourBooks®; get a free quote for insurance to cover their car, home or life; and make hotel, cruise, tour and rental car reservations.
“AAA has a strong Web presence, but we also strive to provide as many branch offices as we can so members can access AAA’s varied services and benefits however they prefer,” said AAA President Art Johnson.
The new Bentonville branch office is located just southeast of downtown at 1501 SE Walton Blvd. Home to the world’s largest retailer, Walmart, Bentonville has seen its population more than triple in the last two decades, and growth is expected to continue.
Likewise, Southaven has been expanding rapidly. In the last decade, its population has nearly doubled and pushed it from being the fifth-most populous city in Mississippi to third. The new AAA office is located not far off Interstate 55 at 7111 Southcrest Parkway, suite 102.
