Crisis Ahead. AAA's nationwide campaign Crisis Ahead. Americas Aging Highways and Airways focused public attention on the nation's deteriorating highways and airways and concentrated efforts to correct this growing problem. Periodic AAA national and local club publicity activities on such topics as air traffic control failures, worst bridges and serious traffic bottlenecks continue to help raise public awareness.
Auto Skills. AAA cosponsors Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills, an annual nationwide contest that encourages young people to choose careers in automotive repair. The contest showcases the technical skills of thousands of graduating high school automotive technicians, culminating in the national finals in Detroit at Ford's Headquarters. More than $3 million in scholarships are offered to participants.
AAA Travel High School Challenge. This contest provides youngsters the opportunity to compete for more than $100,000 in prizes in an on-line exam with the winners of each state competing in a national contest in Orlando on an all-expense paid trip for the youngster and a parent or guardian. Community Relations. AAA's civic involvement at all levels of the association provides employee volunteers and material contributions.
International Relations. Through cooperative agreements with the world wide motoring and touring club federations Alliance Internationale de Tourisme, Federation International de l'Automobile, and Federacion Interamericana de Touring y Automovil Clubes, members receive assistance while traveling abroad. AAA clubs provide reciprocal services to members of overseas clubs traveling in North America.
